[SAIL and Krakatau Steel Explore Stainless Slab JV in Indonesia]

India’s SAIL and Indonesia’s Krakatau Steel signed an MoU to explore a joint venture for stainless steel slab production in Indonesia. The project would combine Indonesia’s nickel resource advantage with SAIL’s experience in steelmaking, project execution and large integrated steel plant operations. It aims to support stainless steel demand in India and ASEAN while adding value to Indonesia’s mineral resources. Capacity, investment structure and technology details remain subject to feasibility studies.

HRC Total Inventory WoW Destocking, Expected WoW Increase Next Week

This week, the HRC social inventory at 86 warehouses nationwide (large sample) tracked by SMM stood at 4.3425 million mt, down 33,200 mt WoW, or down 0.76% WoW, and up 45.74% YoY on a lunar calendar basis. By region, the northeast China market saw a relatively large destocking, the central China market experienced a slight accumulation, and the south China, east China, and north China markets underwent narrow destocking.
