JISCO Invests $490M to Modernize and Reopen ALPART Alumina Refinery in Jamaica

[SMM Aluminum Express News] JISCO has committed US$490 million for the first phase of modernising and reopening the ALPART alumina refinery in Jamaica. The investment will upgrade processing systems, power generation, residue dry-stacking, and rail and port infrastructure, restoring 1 million tpa of alumina capacity in Phase 1 before expanding to 2 million tpa in Phase 2. JISCO aims to begin construction before the end of 2026, with the redevelopment project targeted to officially launch before June 2027.
