[SMM Flash] Nuvau Minerals Confirms High-Grade Gold Potential at Canada’s Historic Matagami Zinc-Copper Camp

Published: Jun 30, 2026 19:32 (GMT+8)

Nuvau Minerals announced encouraging results from its 2026 winter drilling program at the Thundermine target in Quebec’s historic Matagami mining camp. Drill hole TM-26-001 intersected 6.10 meters grading 5.28 g/t gold, including a higher-grade interval of 3.10 meters grading 7.22 g/t gold. Drill hole TM-26-004 also returned 2.50 meters grading 3.15 g/t gold.

The Matagami camp has historically been known for large-scale base metals production, having produced more than 10 billion pounds of zinc and nearly 1 billion pounds of copper since the 1960s. The latest Thundermine results suggest that, beyond its traditional VMS-style copper-zinc mineralization, the district may also host significant orogenic gold potential. Nuvau said a follow-up drilling campaign is scheduled to begin in July 2026, focusing on step-out drilling along strike and down dip from the TM-26-001 intercept to test the continuity and resource growth potential of the high-grade gold zone.

【Flash | Sumitomo Chemical Starts Mass Production of 4-Inch InP Epiwafers】
Sumitomo Chemical has established mass production of 4-inch Indium Phosphide (InP) epitaxial wafers at its Ibaraki Works and begun commercial sales, becoming one of the few Japanese epi houses capable of stable volume production. The products target photonic-electronic convergence devices for AI data centers and high-speed networks. The company aims to generate approximately JPY10 billion in InP epiwafer sales by the mid-2030s. SMM views the move into commercial production as a direct addition to Japan’s InP material supply and supportive of medium-term high-purity indium demand. Annual wafer capacity, output and indium consumption were not disclosed.

Northmin Provisionally Awarded Irish Keel Zinc-Silver-Lead Licence Hosting Historical 11.2 Mt Resource at 4.5% Zinc
On October 6, NorthMin Corporation announced that its Irish subsidiary, Viridian Metals Ireland Limited, had been provisionally offered Prospecting Licence Area 186 in County Longford following a competitive process. PLA 186 covers the Keel zinc-silver-lead deposit and the nearby Garrycam barite-zinc deposit. Northmin has also been offered PLA 3925 in County Meath, covering the Oldcastle zinc-lead prospect. Both licences are intended to be 100%-owned and royalty-free. TMX Newsfile Keel hosts a historical 2020 JORC Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 11.2 million tonnes grading 4.5% zinc, 17 g/t silver and 0.6% lead, at a 3% zinc cut-off, containing approximately 510,000 tonnes of zinc, 72,000 tonnes of lead and 6.14 million ounces of silver. Northmin has secured the database, 3D wireframes and block model supporting the estimate, based on 83 diamond drill holes. Following final grant of PLA 186, the company plans database validation, updated 3D geological modelling, permitting and verification drilling, with a commitment to drill at least two diamond holes during the first two years of the licence
