US Army Partners with Firms to Build Critical Mineral Plants on Military Bases

The US Army has reached agreements with multiple enterprises to build critical mineral processing plants at military bases across the country, marking the first such move by the Trump administration to boost domestic production of critical materials. On the 25th, the US Army said in a statement that REalloys Inc., Titan Mining Corp., Ioneer Ltd., Energy X, and other enterprises had reached agreements with the Pentagon to build processing facilities for minerals including rare earths, graphite, lithium, and boron. The statement said REalloys would build a rare earth separation facility at the Tooele Army Depot in Utah, with its products to be stockpiled for military use. Titan Mining would build and operate a graphite purification facility at either the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas or the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. Energy X and Ioneer Ltd. of Sydney (the only non-US company among the four involved) would build a lithium processing facility and a boron plant, respectively.
