[JSW Steel to Invest $500 Million in US Operations Expansion and Modernization]

Published: Jun 30, 2026 16:04
India's JSW Steel announced a $500 million investment to modernize its US facilities in Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Baytown, Texas. The plan includes a $165 million capex over three years for a vacuum tank degasser and an advanced slab caster, enabling the production of 12-inch steel slabs and eliminating reliance on imports from Brazil. Additionally, a $110 million modernization program at the Baytown plate and pipe mill is scheduled for commissioning on October 1, 2026. This capacity enhancement will allow JSW to supply North American customers with 100% US-melted and manufactured steel, strengthening its regional supply chain footprint.
