[SMM Flash News] Indonesia Advances "Red-and-White" CNG Cylinder Program to Replace Household LPG

Published: Jun 30, 2026 02:18
Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is finalizing its "CNG Merah Putih" cylinder program as a household LPG alternative. Oil and Gas Director General Laode Sulaeman said Monday the cylinders and valves are still sourced from China, with a final round of safety testing expected to wrap up in July at the Lemigas facility before wider rollout. He added that while retail pricing is planned to match current LPG, government modeling shows the program could still cut state subsidy spending by about 30%.
