Draft EIA Report Released for RMB 30M Waste Battery Recycling Project in Changsha

Recently, the ecological environment authority released the public notice on the draft EIA report for the waste power battery recycling and resource utilization project (Phase I). The project involves a total investment of RMB 30 million, located in Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changsha, Hunan. It consists of one dismantling and pyrolysis production line for waste LIBs and separators. Upon completion, it will achieve an annual processing capacity of 10,000 tons of waste LIBs and separators, yielding 4,100 tons of lithium battery black mass and 2,590 tons of copper/aluminum materials per year.

On August 18, Panasonic Industry Co., Ltd. announced that it will fully divest its European power and battery control solutions business. The transaction covers Panasonic Industry's relevant operating entities in Germany and Slovakia, with the closing expected to take place on February 1, 2027. The acquirers are private investment group Midas Atlantic Partners and US-based Najafi Companies. The European business being divested is headquartered in Germany and includes a large-scale manufacturing facility in Slovakia. Panasonic Industry's Chief Strategy Officer, Ryo Kitaori, stated that this divestiture is a decision based on the best ownership arrangement for the business and its employees, and expressed confidence that the business will receive the necessary attention and resources to achieve independent development under its new owners.

On the evening of August 20, Capchem released its semi-annual report for 2026. During the reporting period, Capchem achieved operating revenue of 7.463 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 75.66%; operating profit of 1.162 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 106.96%; and net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of 984 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 103.33%. In terms of capacity construction, the company's battery chemicals segment plans to achieve a total global electrolyte capacity of 1.5 million tons/year under the "Seven-Five" strategic plan. The Malaysia Noratel electronic chemicals project is expected to commence production by the end of 2026, becoming the first Chinese-invested electrolyte production base in Southeast Asia. The US battery chemicals project has entered the civil construction phase. Preparatory work for the Middle East lithium-ion battery materials project and the second phase of the Poland lithium-ion battery materials project is proceeding in an orderly manner.
