10th International Secondary Lead Conference and Learning Lead Course 2026 launches Emerging Leaders Program

The organisers of the 10th International Secondary Lead Conference (10ISLC) and Learning Lead Course 2026 have announced the launch of the Emerging Leaders Program, a new initiative designed to support the next generation of professionals entering the global lead and battery recycling industry.

Taking place at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 26–28 October 2026, the 10th anniversary edition of 10ISLC will bring together recyclers, battery manufacturers, smelters, traders, technology providers and industry experts from across the global lead value chain.

Since its launch in 2009, the International Secondary Lead Conference has established itself as one of the leading international forums dedicated to lead recycling, sustainability, circular economy practices and market development. The conference provides delegates with the opportunity to explore emerging technologies, regulatory developments, market trends and best practices shaping the future of the industry.

As an important feature of the event, delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in the Learning Lead Course 2026, an immersive training program developed by industry experts through the Lead Training Academy. The course has been designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of lead production, battery recycling, health and safety, environmental management, sustainability and operational best practices.

The Learning Lead Course is aimed at professionals seeking to build technical knowledge of the lead industry, develop leadership capabilities and gain a broader understanding of the role lead recycling plays in supporting the global circular economy.

To further support industry succession and professional development, organisers have launched the Emerging Leaders Program in partnership with the Battery Council International (BCI). The program is designed to provide young professionals with greater access to education, networking and leadership development opportunities while helping companies invest in future talent.

The Emerging Leaders Program is open to professionals under 30 years of age, or those under 35 with less than five years of industry experience. Applicants must be currently working within, or closely connected to, the lead, battery recycling, metals, circular economy, sustainability or related sectors.

Participants accepted into the program will receive:

• Access to the Learning Lead Course

• Networking opportunities with industry leaders and decision-makers

• Professional development and leadership-building opportunities

• Exposure to global market, sustainability and technology trends

• An invitation to attend the BCI Convention + Power Mart Expo 2027 at a reduced registration rate.

“The Emerging Leaders Program is an investment in the future of our industry, helping connect and develop the next generation of leaders across the global lead sector,” said Roger Miksad, President and Executive Director of Battery Council International. “By providing access to education, networking and industry engagement opportunities, we are helping ensure the long-term strength and sustainability of the lead and battery recycling industry.”

Mark Stevenson, Conference Chairman and Director of Global Lead Technologies, said the combination of the conference, training course and Emerging Leaders Program creates a unique platform for industry development.

“The 10th International Secondary Lead Conference has always been about bringing the global industry together to share knowledge, discuss challenges and identify opportunities,” Stevenson said. “The Learning Lead Course and Emerging Leaders Program build on that foundation by helping develop the skilled professionals and future leaders our industry will rely on in the years ahead.”

The 10th anniversary edition of 10ISLC is expected to attract delegates from across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas, providing a valuable opportunity for learning, collaboration and business development across the international lead and battery recycling sectors.
