South Korea to Ban Large-Capacity Lithium Batteries on Trains

Korea Railroad Corporation, or KORAIL, announced on June 15 that it will restrict passengers from carrying items equipped with lithium batteries from July 1 to ensure passenger safety amid fire risks.

Restricted items include all personal mobility devices powered by lithium batteries, such as electric scooters and electric bicycles, as well as portable large-capacity lithium batteries exceeding 160 Wh, including those used for broadcasting and camping.

West Africa's Largest Lithium Processing Plant Starts Operations
West Africa's largest lithium processing plant has officially commenced operations in Nigeria's Nasarawa State. The facility has a designed processing capacity of 6,000 tonnes of lithium ore per day, equivalent to around 30,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) annually. The project is operated by Diamond Energy Group, with Jiuling Lithium and Tianhua New Energy each holding a 50% stake.
