Rebar and Coiled Rebar Operating Rates Hold Steady, Capacity Utilization Edges Down

During the survey period (June 2–June 8), operating rates of rebar and coiled rebar rolling lines in Central China held steady, while capacity utilization edged down.
During the survey period (June 2–June 8), the operating rate of rebar rolling lines in Central China remained steady, while capacity utilization edged down.

Specifically, some steel mills in the region controlled production to hold prices firm, leading to a slight decline in rebar supply. On the inventory side, during the survey period, futures fluctuated, dampening market trading interest. Combined with the approaching college entrance examination (gaokao), some areas enforced noise controls at construction sites, weakening rigid demand purchases. Under these combined effects, steel mill inventories accumulated rapidly this week.

For the next survey period, steel mills in Central China are expected to largely maintain their current production pace, keeping rebar production steady.

During the survey period (June 2–June 8), operating rates of wire rod rolling lines in Central China held steady, while capacity utilization edged down.

Specifically, some mills chose to lower capacity utilization of rolling lines to hold prices firm, resulting in a slight dip in wire rod production for this period. On the inventory side, as the survey period covered the gaokao, some regions activated the highest-level city-wide noise pollution prevention response, slowing construction progress at sites and reducing purchase willingness, causing mill inventories to continue accumulating.

No production adjustment plans are in place among steel mills in Central China for the next period, and wire rod supply is expected to remain steady.
