Iran Denies Finalization of US Memorandum, Contradicts Western Media Claims

Published: May 29, 2026 11:08
A source close to the Iranian negotiation team denied claims made by some Western media outlets that the text of a "memorandum of understanding" between Iran and the US had been finalised. The source stated that the claims that the text had been finalised and was "only awaiting formal announcement by both sides" were "inconsistent with the facts," and that the relevant document had "not yet been finalised" to date. In addition, Saeed Aghalou, a member of the Iranian negotiation delegation's media team, also stated that as of now, the Iranian side had not agreed to any memorandum of understanding, nor had it confirmed approval of the memorandum to the Pakistani mediators.
