[SMM Steel] ArcelorMittal Belgium officially restarted its Galva 5 hot-dip galvanizing line in Flémalle after four years of inactivity, strengthening its coated steel production capacity in Europe. The line, acquired in July 2025, underwent major modernization including upgrades to coil feeding systems, pickling sections, zinc bath facilities, and digital infrastructure. The facility can process hot-rolled substrates up to 6.35 mm thick and 1,880 mm wide, supplying galvanized steel for automotive, HVAC, industrial equipment, and road safety applications. The company said the restart will improve delivery flexibility and support its low-carbon steel strategy.
