On May 9, recent market reports indicated that regulatory authorities had taken notice of widespread complaints triggered by automakers locking battery capacity. Eight automakers were reportedly summoned for regulatory talks, three were placed under investigation for violations, and two withdrew controversial upgrade packages and pledged to restore performance. Subsequently, artificial intelligence (AI)-related information circulating online listed the names of eight automakers. When seeking confirmation today from BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, NIO, Seres AITO, Geely Zeekr, and GAC Aion, BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, and GAC Aion explicitly denied the claims.
