[Lithium Battery: Xiaomi Establishes Battery Company In Beijing]

On April 30, Beijing Xiaomi Jingxu Technology Co., Ltd. officially completed its industrial and commercial registration and was established. The company is under the Xiaomi Group system, wholly owned by Xiaomi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and indirectly wholly controlled by Xiaomi Communications Co., Ltd. Its core business covers battery manufacturing, production of battery parts and accessories, and battery sales. It also includes key new energy sectors such as electric motor manufacturing, electric motor production, motor and its control system research and development, and generator and generator set manufacturing.

Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for the French Neomat CAM power battery cathode material factory, jointly built by Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. (XTC) and French group Orano, was held in Dunkirk, marking the official start of full-scale construction. The Neomat CAM factory is located in the Grand Port Maritime de Dunkirk. With a total investment of approximately 500 million euros, it plans to produce 40,000 tons of power battery cathode materials annually and is scheduled to commence production in 2028. Neomat's comprehensive industrial layout will subsequently include core sectors such as precursors and strategic metal material recycling, aiming to build an integrated low-carbon circular industry platform.

Recently, the Economic Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Bureau of Gao County, Sichuan Province, released a public notice soliciting comments on the environmental impact report for the Gao County 80,000-ton waste lithium battery dismantling and comprehensive utilization project of Jiushi New Energy (Sichuan) Co., Ltd. It is reported that this project will construct 10 battery dismantling and crushing production lines. These include 3 lithium iron phosphate battery crushing lines, 2 ternary lithium battery crushing lines, 2 lithium iron phosphate battery cathode sheet processing lines, 2 lithium iron phosphate battery anode sheet processing lines, and 1 battery echelon utilization line.

Japan Revises Battery Strategy
According to a report by the Yomiuri Shimbun on June 2, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will hold an expert meeting on the same day to discuss and announce a revised version of its “Battery Industry Strategy.” The new strategy is based on a detailed forecast that the global battery market will roughly double from 2025 to 2035, reaching JPY 46 trillion. Accordingly, the Japanese government has set a target to increase the global battery-related revenue of Japanese battery manufacturers to JPY 6 trillion, about three times the current level of less than JPY 2 trillion.
