Published: Apr 27, 2026 11:52
According to Odfjell, the company has signed agreements to acquire four 40,000 dwt fully stainless-steel newbuildings to be built at Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan, with a total transaction value of about $290 million and deliveries scheduled from 1Q 2027 to 2Q 2029. The company said the vessels are intended for its core deep-sea chemical shipping trades and will feature fully stainless-steel construction. The move highlights that demand for high-specification stainless steel vessels remains solid in the chemical tanker segment and suggests shipowners are still willing to commit to long-term investment in premium stainless steel applications.
