【SMM Steel】Blastr emerges as leading bidder for UK Speciality Steel assets

【SMM Steel】The UK Insolvency Service will begin exclusive negotiations with the preferred bidder for Speciality Steel UK in South Yorkshire. The negotiation period will last five weeks. SSUK has been under administration since Aug 2025. Norwegian startup Blastr is the leading contender, targeting the UK's largest EAF in Rotherham and facilities in Stocksbridge. Blastr currently operates no mills but is developing a green hydrogen-based project in Finland and is expected to secure financing.

[SMM Hot-Rolled Coil Daily Trading] On April 22, the combined daily trading volume of hot-rolled coil from SMM's sample enterprises across four cities (Shanghai, Lecong, Tianjin, and Ningbo) totaled 17,090 mt, up 1,090 mt DoD (+6.8%), up 6.02% YoY (solar calendar), and up 22.42% YoY (lunar calendar).
