Published: Apr 15, 2026 17:46
On April 11, the 200MW/800MWh energy storage project in Bole City, Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region officially commenced construction. As the first energy storage project to formally break ground in the area, the project involves a total investment of 856 million yuan, covers approximately 80 mu of land, and has a construction period of 180 days. The main construction scope includes a new 110kV step-up substation, with electricity being stepped up and fed into the Zaojiaoshu 220kV step-up collection station for grid connection. With a construction capacity of 200MW/800MWh, the project adopts a combined grid-forming and grid-following technical scheme, and employs advanced technologies such as SST direct-connected technology, offering advantages including reliable design, rapid response, and strong regulation capability.

China Emphasizes Safety and Industry Development in Low-Altitude Economy Plan
On April 17, the State Council Information Office held a press conference in the series of "Starting the 15th Five-Year Plan," The development of the low-altitude economy must take safety as a prerequisite — without safety, there is no low-altitude economy. At the same time, it should be underpinned by industry, with consolidating and enhancing industrial development advantages as the guiding orientation. Efforts should be made to intensify the development of new-type aircraft such as large-payload fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles and long-endurance vertical take-off and landing aircraft, build a spectrum of key low-altitude equipment, drive supporting industries along the upstream and downstream chain, and develop comprehensive cluster development hubs tailored to local conditions.

WCP Becomes Sole Separator Supplier for Samsung SDI and SK On ESS Batteries
According to industry sources on April 17, WCP will supply separators for LFP batteries used in ESS systems to be produced by Samsung SDI in the United States. The company is already supplying separators for NCA-based ESS batteries. WCP began supplying separators in October last year to the ESS production line of StarPlus Energy, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis. Currently, one NCA-based ESS line is in operation. With two additional LFP lines set to be gradually ramped up starting in October this year, separator supply volumes are expected to increase further.
