Guangdong's First Batch of Tungsten Ore Quota for 2026 at 2,110 mt, Down 10.2%

[Tungsten News Flash] SMM, April 14: It was reported that Guangdong Province issued the first batch of tungsten mine extraction control quotas for 2026: the provincial total was 2,110 standard tonnes (65% WO₃ basis), a decrease of 250 mt from the first batch in 2025 (2,350 mt), a YoY decline of 10.2%.

[Tungsten Express] Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (hereinafter "MMC") has decided to invest approximately 50 million euros to expand the tungsten recycling capacity of its consolidated subsidiary H.C. Starck Tungsten GmbH (headquartered in Goslar, Germany; hereinafter "H.C. Starck"). With this investment, H.C. Starck will increase its tungsten scrap processing capacity at its flagship Goslar plant from approximately 5,000 mt per year to 7,000 mt. The construction of the new facility is planned to start in 2026 and is expected to be completed within 2028. H.C. Starck produces and sells high-quality powder products made from tungsten, tungsten carbide, and related alloys in Europe, North America, and China, and also maintains sales operations in Japan.

[Tungsten Express] The second meeting of the eighth Executive Council (Presidium) of the China Tungsten Industry Association was held in Zhuzhou, Hunan on July 31, 2026. The meeting focused on exchanging and discussing the industry's operating situation, and participants provided opinions and suggestions on the association's work. The meeting required vice presidents and presidium units to continuously enhance their political stance, strengthen confidence in the industry's development, give full play to the exemplary and leading role of key enterprises; firmly establish correct development and performance concepts, take the lead in implementing industry self-discipline, resolutely curb "involution-style" vicious competition, make every effort to stabilize operations, markets, and expectations, and continuously foster a healthy and orderly industry ecosystem.
