Suppliers Faced Relatively Small Upstream Shipment Pressure and Remained Confident in Holding Prices Firm [SMM North China Spot Copper]

Today, spot prices of #1 copper cathode in North China were reported at discounts of 100 yuan/mt to 40 yuan/mt against the front-month contract, with the average price up 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The average transaction price was 95,355 yuan/mt, down 240 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.

SMM News, March 26:

Today, spot #1 copper cathode in North China was quoted at a discount of 100 yuan/mt to a discount of 40 yuan/mt against the front-month contract, with the average price up 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The average transaction price was 95,355 yuan/mt, down 240 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Recently, downstream buyers had been picking up goods under long-term contracts in a concentrated manner. As month-end approached, inventory at upstream smelters was not high, giving them some confidence to hold prices firm. Today, the copper cathode procurement sentiment in North China was 2.12, up 0.01 from the previous trading day, while shipment sentiment was 1.99, down 0.32 from the previous trading day ().
