CRRC Zhuzhou Institute's Third-Generation Alkaline Electrolyzer Completes 300+ Hours of Wind and Solar Power Fluctuation Testing, First in the Industry to Pass Third-Party Long-Term Verification

Published: Feb 5, 2026 11:51

Recently, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute's AQ-1000 third-generation alkaline electrolyzer successfully completed a 300+ hour long-duration test simulating wind and solar power fluctuations at the Ordos Hydrogen Energy Alliance demonstration base, becoming the first electrolyzer enterprise in the industry to complete such a third-party long-duration test.

Test results showed that the electrolyzer's energy consumption was only 4.3 kWh/Nm³ at a current density of 3,000 A/m² (measured by the mass flow meter method), with virtually no degradation in energy consumption before and after the test. The load regulation range reached 25%–130%, with a power regulation rate of 5%/s, enabling it to perfectly adapt to the intermittent and fluctuating characteristics of new energy generation, demonstrating outstanding operational adaptability.

Adhering to the "reliable and safe" design philosophy, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has established a rigorous full-process testing and validation system. The electrolyzer has already completed a step-by-step, full-dimensional in-house performance test covering "materials – small stacks – short stacks – full stacks." This third-party extreme test not only verified the product's energy consumption stability and sealing reliability under fluctuating conditions but also provided important technical support for the industry in addressing the challenge of adapting new energy to hydrogen production.

ACC Suspends Battery Gigafactory Plans in Italy and Germany Amid Lower EV Demand
European Automotive Battery Company (ACC) has officially announced the suspension of its plans to build battery gigafactories in Italy and Germany. ACC, jointly funded by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and TotalEnergies, was originally expected to enhance the autonomy of the European EV supply chain. However, due to lower-than-expected demand in the EV market, Stellantis recently announced a €22 billion loss and correspondingly scaled back its electrification investments. CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the actual required battery capacity will be significantly lower than initially planned.

SMM Daily Review: February 11 Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Fluctuate Upward
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price was 138,483 yuan/mt. Battery-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 134,000-142,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 138,000 yuan/mt. Industrial-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 131,000-138,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 134,500 yuan/mt. Today, the most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract showed a fluctuating upward trend. As logistics gradually halted, downstream material plants had largely completed their stockpiling for February, with most enterprises adopting a wait-and-see attitude and holding low psychological price levels for procurement. Overall, market inquiries and transactions remained sluggish.
