[SMM Aluminum Express News] The Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), established in 2018, evaluated bids for an integrated aluminium industry. The project links to modernizing the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), which started in 1967 with 200,000 tonnes/year capacity but now produces ~40,000 tonnes. Minister Buah urged the selected investor to start work in 2026 and restore VALCO output to at least 200,000 tonnes annually by end-2028. GIADEC CEO Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah emphasized creating thousands of jobs and positioning Ghana as a global aluminium player, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s reset agenda.
