According to a Reuters report cited by Mining.com, Fortescue announced on Thursday that its iron ore exports grew 2% in the second quarter of the 2025/26 fiscal year, primarily driven by the resilience of the Iron Bridge project and increased production from hematite mines.
The company's Iron Bridge project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia saw a 44% increase in exports to 2.2 million mt, and the magnetite ore-dominated mine is expected to reach its designed capacity in the 2028 fiscal year.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the company's hematite mine exports were 48.3 million mt, compared to 47.9 million mt in the same period last year.
The world's fourth-largest iron ore producer's total iron ore shipments in the fourth quarter reached 50.5 million mt, up from 49.4 million mt a year earlier, exceeding Visible Alpha's estimate of 50.3 million mt.
