[SMM Daily Review: January 23 Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Continue to Rise]
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index stood at 168,960 yuan/mt, up 4,103 yuan/mt from the previous working day. SMM Battery-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 168,000-174,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 171,000 yuan/mt, up 6,500 yuan/mt from the previous working day. SMM Industrial-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 165,000-170,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 167,500 yuan/mt, up 6,500 yuan/mt from the previous working day.

Today, the most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract fluctuated upward, with prices ranging between 172,300 yuan/mt and 182,000 yuan/mt. In terms of actual market transactions, spot order sales sentiment among upstream suppliers improved, and some lithium chemical plants engaged in stockpiling and holding back sales. Downstream material plants purchased as needed and built stockpiles for February. As prices rose, some material plants adopted a cautious wait-and-see approach, leading to a slowdown in spot order purchasing sentiment. Overall, market inquiries and transactions remained relatively active.
