Announcement on the Removal of Some Prices in the SMM Automotive Zone

Published: Jan 21, 2026 15:27

Dear User:

Hello!

During the development of the automotive steel market, changes in some mainstream brands, materials, and specifications have caused certain deviations between current SMM automotive section prices and the actual market situation. SMM has decided to delist prices for certain materials/specifications of cold-rolled coil and galvanised coil effective immediately. Customers using these prices for settlement should note the period and promptly adjust their price usage to avoid business impacts due to the price discontinuation.

A total of 25 price points have been delisted this time, with details as follows:

Cold-rolled coil DC01 0.6-2.0*1250*C (nationwide average price)

Cold-rolled coil DC03 0.8-2.0*1250*C (nationwide average price)

Cold-rolled coil DC04 1.0-3.0*1250*C (nationwide average price)

Galvanised coil DX51D+Z 0.5-2.0*1250*C (nationwide average price)

Galvanised coil DX53D+Z 1.0-2.0*1250*C (nationwide average price)

Suggestions for using new prices are as follows:

Customers originally using cold-rolled coil DC01 0.6-2.0*1250*C can adjust as needed to use cold-rolled coil DC01 1.0*1250*C prices from Shanghai Baosteel, Bensteel Group, etc.;

Customers originally using cold-rolled coil DC03 0.8-2.0*1250*C can adjust as needed to use cold-rolled coil DC03 1.0*1250*C prices from Shanghai Baosteel, Bensteel Group, etc.;

Customers originally using cold-rolled coil DC04 1.0-3.0*1250*C can adjust as needed to use cold-rolled coil DC04 1.0*1250*C prices from Shanghai Baosteel, Bensteel Group, etc.;

Customers originally using galvanised coil DX51D+Z 0.5-2.0*1250*C can adjust as needed to use galvanised coil DX51D+Z80 1.0*1250*C prices from Shanghai Baosteel, Bensteel Group, etc.;

Customers originally using galvanised coil DX53D+Z 1.0-2.0*1250*C can adjust as needed to use galvanised coil DX53D+Z80 1.0*1250*C prices from Shanghai Ansteel, HBIS, etc.

Before the holiday, the black chain is unlikely to see a trend-driven market [SMM Steel Industry Chain Weekly Report].
This week, ferrous metals were in the doldrums, with coking coal and coke staging a mid-week rise. At the beginning of the week, financial markets experienced sharp fluctuations, dragging down sentiment in the ferrous chain and leading to a pullback in futures. Mid-week, Indonesia's cut to coke production quotas drove coking coal and coke futures to lead the gains, though the impact was more pronounced on thermal coal, while coking coal's rise was largely sentiment-driven and short-lived. In the latter part of the week, finished products continued their seasonal inventory buildup, and support from the raw material side weakened, causing the entire ferrous chain to pull back. In the spot market, with the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, purchasing activity slowed down further, with end-users only making limited, as-needed purchases at low prices.
