[Chalco Science Institute Overcomes Aerospace-Grade Casting Challenges, Yi'an Technology Collaborates with Tailg to Accelerate Commercialization] Recently, the magnesium alloy sector has witnessed successive breakthroughs. Chalco Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. has achieved technological advancements in the preparation of high-performance magnesium alloy materials and parts, while Dongguan Yi'an Technology Co., Ltd. has established a strategic partnership with Tailg Group. These two achievements respectively promote the application expansion of magnesium alloys in high-end equipment and civilian transportation, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the industry.

Recently, the magnesium alloy sector has witnessed a series of breakthroughs. Chalco Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. achieved technological advancements in the preparation of high-performance magnesium alloy materials and parts, while Dongguan Eontec Co., Ltd. entered into a strategic partnership with Tailg Group. These achievements have propelled the application of magnesium alloys in high-end equipment and civilian transportation, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the industry.

The research team developed a new-type cast rare-earth heat-resistant magnesium alloy material through innovative alloy composition design and precise microstructural control. This material exhibits a tensile strength exceeding 280 MPa and an elongation after fracture of over 20% at 200°C, representing a 100% improvement in plasticity compared to similar materials, achieving a synergistic enhancement of strength and ductility. Building on this, the team overcame challenges in forming complex structural components, producing precision cast cabin parts that meet aerospace standards, with both mechanical properties and casting quality satisfying the requirements for high-end equipment.

On December 26, Dongguan Eontec announced that it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tailg Group, a global top-tier enterprise in two-wheeled electric vehicles, on December 24. According to the agreement, Eontec will serve as Tailg Group's strategic supplier of magnesium alloy parts, responsible for the R&D, production, and supply of related products. The two parties will establish high-level meeting mechanisms and joint working groups to ensure the progress of cooperation. Provided that technical and capacity requirements are met, Tailg Group will prioritize Eontec for related projects. Leveraging Eontec's technical expertise in magnesium-aluminum alloys and stable capacity, combined with Tailg Group's market presence and complete vehicle system, the collaboration aims to achieve complementary advantages. Eontec, with years of experience in magnesium-aluminum alloy die-casting, possesses core technological strengths and reliable capacity, while Tailg Group boasts extensive market coverage and a mature vehicle system.

From the high-end technological breakthroughs at Chalco Science and Technology Research Institute to the civilian sector cooperation between Eontec and Tailg Group, the application boundaries of magnesium alloy materials continue to expand. These achievements not only demonstrate China's solid capabilities in the R&D and industrialisation of magnesium alloy materials but also accelerate the large-scale application of magnesium alloys across more fields, providing robust support for equipment lightweighting upgrades and the development of green transportation. Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
