As the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) officially entered into force on January 1, 2026, the Chinese government has lodged a renewed protest against the policy. Classifying CBAM as a "trade protection measure," China emphasized that it reserves the right to introduce retaliatory measures to safeguard its interests.
