Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 30, XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng revealed the G7 Super REEV, positioning it as the first SUV under the company's Kunpeng extended-range lineup. He said the model delivers a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,704 kilometers, which XPENG describes as an industry-leading figure on a global scale.

He explained that the G7 can travel up to 430 kilometers on battery power alone, allowing most urban users to charge only once a week. When operating in extended-range mode, the vehicle is designed to handle long-distance travel and peak holiday journeys, reducing concerns over charging availability and seasonal conditions by combining electricity and fuel in a complementary way.

XPENG said the G7 will feature what it claims is the only 800V, 5C ultra-fast-charging AI battery system in its segment. The SUV also adopts XPENG's in-house Turing computing chip, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of processing power, alongside a strong emphasis on cabin comfort and interior space.

Official images show that the extended-range G7 largely mirrors the design of its battery-electric counterpart, retaining XPENGs latest family styling. The front fascia features a continuous, full-width LED daytime running light signature paired with a split headlamp layout.

He Xiaopeng had previously indicated in September that the G7 Super REEV was scheduled to make its formal debut in the first quarter of 2026. While pricing has yet to be announced, the all-electric G7 currently carries a list price ranging from 195,800 to 225,800 yuan, offering a reference point for the new variant. The REEV model has already been filed with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The MIIT's filings indicate that the G7 REEV measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. Compared with the BEV version, the vehicle is 26 mm longer, while all other dimensions remain unchanged.

Powering the new model is an extended-range powertrain system combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum output of 110 kW, while the motor produces up to 218 kW. Energy is supplied by a 55.8 kWh battery pack, enabling a CLTC-rated battery-powered range of 430 kilometers. The vehicle supports 800V, 5C ultra-fast charging, adding up to 314 kilometers of range in around 12 minutes. XPENG also highlights a suite of noise-reduction measures, including dual active noise cancellation technologies, AI-based range-extender management and extensive acoustic insulation, aimed at delivering a consistently quiet driving experience across most real-world scenarios.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
