MMG Approves Khoemacau Mine Phase II Expansion, Eyes 2028 Production Start

The Board of Directors of MMG has officially approved the feasibility study report and design plan for the Phase II expansion of the Khoemacau Mine in Botswana, marking the project's full transition into the substantive construction phase. Production capacity increase: Copper production will rise to 130,000 tons per year, with by-product silver exceeding 4 million ounces annually. Expansion of mining area: The mining scope will extend from the Phase I Zone 5 to northern Zone 5, Mango, and northeastern Zeta. New facilities: A concentrator with an annual processing capacity of 4.5 million tons will be constructed, bringing the total processing capacity of the mine to over 8 million tons per year. Commencement of production: The first batch of copper concentrate is expected to be produced in the first half of 2028.
