【SMM Flash News】Indonesia and US Target Strategic Minerals & Trade Pact for Early 2026

Published: Dec 28, 2025 00:40
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, has initiated business-to-business talks to grant the US access to critical minerals, including nickel, bauxite, and rare earth elements, to support industries like defense and aviation. These discussions coincide with the finalization of a Reciprocal Trade Agreement, which President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump are expected to sign in late January 2026. The deal aims to secure tariff exemptions for key Indonesian exports such as palm oil and cocoa, while solidifying long-term mining cooperation between the two nations.
