Trina Solar Completes Sale of 5GW US Solar Module Plant to T1 Energy

Published: Dec 26, 2025 19:36
On 23 December, Trina Solar completed the sale of its 5GW solar module manufacturing facility in the United States, concluding the transaction first approved by the company's board in November 2024.
Following the transaction's completion, Trina holds 45.9 million shares in T1 Energy, representing a 17.4% stake, alongside cash and bonds previously acquired under the transaction structure. The facility, previously operating as Trina Solar's US Manufacturing Module 1, has now been renamed T1 G1 Dallas Solar Module.
The transaction encompasses a fully operational 5GW module factory developed as part of Trina's US localisation strategy to address tariffs and incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act. Trina sold the asset to T1 Energy (formerly FREYR Battery) in exchange for a combination of cash, senior notes and equity.

[SMM PV News] UK Proposes Stricter Cyber Security Rules for Energy Sector
The UK government aims to strengthen cyber security regulations for its electricity and gas sectors following a recent attack on energy infrastructure in Poland. Highlighting the energy system as an 'attractive target' for adversaries, the government has launched an industry consultation on applying baseline cyber requirements—such as firewalls, access controls, and patch management—to all licensed energy organizations. Additionally, the thresholds for compliance with the stringent 2018 Network and Information System ('NIS') Regulations may be adjusted to cover a broader range of entities, including generators over 2 GW capacity. If expanded, more organizations will face increased compliance and security spending. Stakeholders have until May 22, 2026, to submit their views.
