Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 25, CATL announced that it has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with Sieyuan, targeting a cumulative cooperation volume of 50 GWh in the energy storage sector.

Building on their respective strengths, the two companies plan to promote a market-oriented "dual-sourcing" procurement model for energy storage, aiming to improve efficiency across the industrial chain and support the sector's high-quality development.

Over the next three years, the partnership will focus on closer coordination between upstream and downstream segments of the value chain, spanning energy storage systems as well as supporting transmission and distribution equipment. The two sides also plan to intensify technical exchanges and joint project development, with the goal of refining integrated solutions, improving delivery efficiency and reliability, and accelerating the large-scale deployment of energy storage systems within next-generation power grids.

Sieyuan is a long-established player in power-sector R&D, equipment manufacturing and engineering services, and has been actively advancing digital transformation across the energy industry. The new memorandum represents a strategic deepening of cooperation following the two companies' initial partnership formed in 2022. Beyond strengthening their coordination within the energy storage value chain, the agreement also offers the wider industry a more resilient, efficient and sustainable model of ecosystem collaboration, supporting China's dual-carbon goals and the build-out of a modern energy system.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
