Recycling Industry Events This Week (November. 24-28)

This week's recycling industry events.

【20,000-ton Lithium Battery Cathode Material Precursor Project Launches in Xiangyang】 Recently, the local ecology and environment bureau in Xiangyang released the "Second Public Notice for the Environmental Impact Assessment of the 200,000-ton Lithium Battery Cathode Material Precursor Project by a chemical company in the region", marking the imminent launch of several hundred thousand tons of lithium iron phosphate production capacity in Hubei. Located in a local chemical park in Xiangyang, the company plans to invest 62 billion yuan to construct a new lithium battery cathode material precursor project. It aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate and 1 million tons of compound fertilizer, along with supporting public utilities, auxiliary works, storage and transportation facilities, and environmental protection projects.

【New 60,000-ton Power Battery Recycling Project in Yichang, Hubei Announced】 Recently, the local ecology and environment bureau released the "Second Public Notice for the Environmental Impact Report of the Annual Processing of 60,000 Tons of Power Batteries for Cascade Utilization and Regeneration Project by a new energy company in the area". The announcement shows the project is located in an industrial park in the city, with a total investment of 48.88 million yuan. It involves constructing a 15,000-square-meter workshop and automated production lines for battery crushing, electrode plate washing, separator washing, copper-aluminum separation, as well as disassembly, crushing, sorting, and metal recovery from used power batteries. The project will be equipped with dust collection, exhaust gas purification, and wastewater circulation systems to achieve an annual processing capacity of 60,000 tons of power batteries.

【Project for Dismantling and Recycling 50,000 Sets of Power Battery Packs Annually Launches in Shandong】 Recently, the local ecology and environment bureau issued a notice of intent to approve the project for the annual dismantling and recycling of 50,000 sets of used vehicle power battery packs by a low-carbon technology company. The project is located in an industrial area within the county. It will utilize an existing warehouse and lease space from a local resource regeneration company. By purchasing and installing 2 automated lithium battery production lines and 2 automated lithium battery dismantling lines, the project aims to establish an annual dismantling capacity of 50,000 sets of retired vehicle power battery packs.

【Annual Processing of 100,000 Tons of Waste Lithium Battery Comprehensive Utilization Project Launches in Shandong】 With an investment of 650 million yuan, the project's construction includes a crushing and sorting system, an oxygen-free pyrolysis system, a metal recycling and reuse system, an environmental protection system, a technology center, and other supporting auxiliary facilities. Upon reaching full capacity, the project will be able to recycle and process 100,000 tons of waste lithium batteries annually, including 60,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate single cells and 40,000 tons of ternary lithium single cells. It will employ advanced domestic waste lithium battery recycling and processing technology. After pre-treatment through crushing and sorting, the scrapped waste lithium batteries will enable the cyclic reuse of materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese.

【Hefei, Anhui Launches 75,000-ton Lithium Battery Material Recycling Project】 On December 3rd, the Hefei Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau in Anhui Province announced the approval decision for the "Annual Processing of 75,000 Tons of Lithium Battery Material Recycling Project" by a local waste resource utilization company. The project is located in the Hefei Xinzhan High-tech Zone, Anhui Province. It involves the construction of 3 new production workshops, warehouses, office spaces, and other public auxiliary facilities. The company will purchase crushers, linear vibrating screens, grinding machines, and other related production equipment along with pollution prevention facilities.

According to the latest data from the Passenger Car Association, in December 2025, producers with new energy wholesale sales exceeding 10,000 units accounted for 93% of the total wholesale sales of passenger NEVs that month. Based on preliminary January data, these producers achieved sales of 830,000 units in January. As most producers have already locked in their major sales figures, by applying the structural proportion from the previous month to the current month's data, the estimated wholesale sales of passenger NEVs nationwide in January were 900,000 units. According to comprehensive preliminary monthly association data: the estimated wholesale sales of NEVs by national passenger car producers in January 2026 were 900,000 units, up 1% YoY.
