[Australia Issues Preliminary Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Determinations on Rail Wheels for Freight from China]

On December 22, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission issued Announcement No. 2025/128, making preliminary anti-dumping and countervailing determinations on rail wheels for freight imported from China. It decided to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on the involved Chinese products in the form of deposits starting from December 22, 2025. The duty rate for both non-cooperating producers and all producers is 36.9%. As there is currently insufficient evidence to support a preliminary affirmative countervailing determination on the involved Chinese products, the Commission will continue its investigation. The Australian HS code for the involved products is 8607.19.00.20.

India will not mandate imported-coal blending at thermal power plants or require gas-based power generation this year, Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal told Moneycontrol, citing high fuel costs and a focus on domestic coal production and logistics. Coal stocks at thermal power plants fell to 18.6 million tonnes as of September 30, 2026, from 25.4 million tonnes at the beginning of September. The government expects inventories to recover over the following two weeks as supply disruptions ease. It has also directed captive power plants to offer surplus electricity to the grid.
