It underscores an accelerated push toward product realization and market entry.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 22, Yijing, the new automotive brand jointly created by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei Qiankun, reached a major development milestone as its first engineering prototype officially rolled off the line. The debut model is a full-size SUV.

The rapid progress is notable: just one month after the brand was unveiled at the Huawei Qiankun Ecosystem Conference on November 20, Yijing has already produced its first prototype, underscoring an accelerated push toward product realization and market entry.

Built around the core values of "safety first, intelligence-led, and open co-creation," Yijing's inaugural SUV is positioned as a deep integration of Dongfeng's manufacturing heritage and Huawei Qiankun's intelligent technology stack. The vehicle is set to feature Huawei's latest-generation intelligent driving system, HarmonySpace, vehicle control solutions, in-car optics, and cloud-based services, making it one of the most comprehensively integrated Huawei-technology vehicles on the market. At the same time, it draws on Dongfeng Motor's 56 years of vehicle development experience, particularly in areas such as overall vehicle safety, chassis dynamics, and manufacturing quality.

From a product perspective, the first Yijing model aims to deliver a high-level intelligent mobility experience tailored to family users. Huawei Qiankun's advanced intelligent technologies are being calibrated around everyday household scenarios, with an emphasis on personalization and contextual adaptability. The ambition is to transform the vehicle from a mere means of transportation into an intelligent companion capable of learning and evolving over time. On the safety front, the battery system has been developed under a "zero thermal incident" target, reinforcing the brand's focus on building a robust safety foundation for family-oriented use.

According to the current roadmap, the production version of Yijing's first model will make its official public debut at the Auto China 2025 in April 2026 and is expected to go on sale later that year. Looking further ahead, the brand plans to introduce at least one new model annually, gradually building a diversified lineup that spans multiple vehicle segments.

As the first model moves closer to mass production, the strategic partnership between Dongfeng Motor and Huawei Qiankun—often described internally as "one team, multi-billion-yuan investment, and three years of intensive development"—has entered a new, tangible phase focused on product validation and quality refinement. The initial prototype will soon be sent to Mohe, where temperatures can drop to minus 50 degrees Celsius, to undergo extreme cold-weather testing. These trials will rigorously evaluate battery performance, vehicle sealing, climate control systems, and chassis stability, ensuring the vehicle can withstand harsh conditions and deliver long-term reliability for end users.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
