On December 18, BYD announced a major production milestone: the rollout of its 15 millionth new energy vehicle.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 18, BYD announced a major production milestone: the rollout of its 15 millionth new energy vehicle. The landmark unit was also the 15,000th DENZA N8L to come off the production line, underscoring the parallel growth of BYD's premium sub-brand.

Sales data show that BYD sold 480,186 new energy vehicles in November, marking its strongest single-month performance so far this year. Output during the same period reached 474,175 units, indicating steady production operations. Despite intensifying competition and increasingly fragmented demand in China's domestic market, BYD managed to achieve month-on-month sales growth, lifting monthly deliveries back to a high level.

Overseas markets have emerged as a key engine of growth for BYD. In November, the company sold 131,661 passenger vehicles and pickups outside China, a year-on-year soar of 297% and a record high for its overseas business. The surge reflects the continued expansion of BYD's global sales network, as well as the ramp-up in deliveries of newly launched models across multiple regions.

From January through November, BYD's cumulative sales reached 4.18 million vehicles, representing an 11.3% increase year on year. The Ocean series contributed strongly to this performance, with cumulative sales of 2.03 million units over the same period, up 17.9% from a year earlier.

Looking at the pace of capacity expansion, BYD took 17 years to produce its first 15 million new energy vehicles. However, the leap from 10 million to 15 million units was achieved in just 13 months, highlighting a sharp acceleration in output. Earlier, in October, the company's 14 millionth vehicle had already rolled off the line at its factory in Brazil.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
