【SMM Nickel Flash News】SLNC Installs First Autoclave at US$1.8 Billion HPAL Nickel Project in Indonesia

PT Sulawesi Nickel Cobalt (SLNC), a joint venture between Huayou Indonesia and PT Merdeka Battery Materials, has installed its first high-pressure autoclave at its HPAL project in Morowali, Central Sulawesi. Located in IMIP and adjacent to Huayou-led HNC’s 90,000 t/y HPAL plant, the US$1.8 billion project began construction in January 2025 and is scheduled for completion in mid-2026, aiming to strengthen Indonesia’s role in supplying battery-grade nickel for EVs. The project is backed by a US$1.4 billion syndicated loan from banks including Bank Mandiri and BNI.

[SMM Nickel News Flash] The average price of SMM 10-12% high-grade NPI rose 7.7 yuan/nickel unit WoW to 1,093.1 yuan/nickel unit (ex-factory, tax included), while the average Indonesian NPI FOB index price rose 1.55 $/nickel unit WoW to 140.06 $/nickel unit. The high-grade NPI market this week exhibited a "dip-then-rally" trend.
