On December 16, ORA, Great Wall Motor's BEV-focused brand, officially launched the ORA 5 onto the market.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 16, ORA, Great Wall Motor's BEV-focused brand, officially launched the ORA 5 onto the market. The new model is offered in five variants, with list prices ranging from 99,800 yuan to 133,800 yuan. A limited-time trade-in program lowers the entry price to 91,800 yuan, incorporating incentives such as deposit benefits and trade-in subsidies of up to 5,000 yuan.

In terms of styling, the ORA 5 moves away from sharp edges in favor of a fully curved design language, creating a smooth, fluid surface that emphasizes the play of light across the body. Up front, the car features distinctive rounded headlamps paired with a clamshell hood, giving it an instantly recognizable face.

The headlamp design draws inspiration from a droplet poised on the tip of a leaf, capturing a sense of tension and fullness in its form. Internally, LED elements and high-performance lenses enable clear high-beam illumination at distances of up to 170 meters. Trapezoidal air intakes and side air channels further accentuate the vehicle's sporty character.

Viewed from the side, the ORA 5 follows what the brand describes as a "golden ratio" proportion, with a wheelbase-to-body ratio of 2.74. A roofline reminiscent of rolling hills and a flowing shoulder line evoke a sense of elegant motion. At the rear, the rounded silhouette is complemented by taillights concealed beneath the rear window, inspired by the first streak of light at daybreak. Buyers can choose from six exterior colors, including shades of green, white, gray, beige, blue and red.

Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist layout inspired by the concept of "negative space" often seen in traditional Chinese painting, creating an open and relaxed atmosphere. Rounded design elements dominate the interior, paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen that reinforce the car's high-tech feel. Speaker grilles take cues from hexagonal ice crystals, while physical toggle switches beneath the air vents, finished in chrome, add a tactile and premium touch.

Comfort and usability are key highlights. The front passenger seat reclines to a 128-degree “relaxation angle” and comes equipped with a leg rest, as well as three-level heating and ventilation—features rarely seen in this segment. The cabin also offers 33 storage compartments tailored to urban lifestyles. Powered by Coffee OS 3, the infotainment system supports dual-zone voice activation, continuous voice commands and contextual “say what you see” interaction, all enhanced by large AI models. In terms of driver assistance, the integration of lidar and the Coffee Pilot Ultra system enables urban navigation-on-autopilot functionality without reliance on high-definition maps, supporting traffic light recognition, intelligent lane changes and obstacle avoidance. The system also includes memory parking for distances of up to three kilometers via OTA updates and assistance across more than 200 parking space types.

Power comes from a front-mounted single electric motor delivering a maximum output of 150 kW and peak torque of 260 N·m. Depending on the configuration, the ORA 5 offers CLTC-rated driving ranges of 480 km or up to 580 km on a single charge.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
