Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 16, China-based image-level LiDAR company Seyond announced that it has been selected as a designated supplier by GAC Group, marking a new production program for the automaker. The first vehicle equipped under this partnership is scheduled to enter mass production in 2026.

The partnership with GAC adds another strategic anchor to Seyond's push toward large-scale, vehicle-side commercialization. To date, the company has secured fixed-point nominations from ten more OEMs and ADAS/ADS companies, underscoring its growing footprint in the OEM market.

Backed by a dual-technology strategy spanning both 905 nm and 1550 nm LiDAR architectures, Seyond has steadily expanded its addressable market. This flexible technology roadmap has allowed the company to adapt to diverse vehicle platforms and applications, strengthening its position in the intelligent driving perception space.

GAC Group, one of China's leading automobile players, has built out a broad autonomous driving development and deployment framework spanning L2 through L4, supported by its strong engineering capabilities and substantial market presence.

Its three core proprietary brands are positioned with distinct strategies: AION targets younger, Gen Z consumers; Trumpchi focuses on the mainstream market; and HYPTEC emphasizes a technology-driven premium image. Together, they span mass to high-end segments and internal combustion to pure electric drivetrains, creating a broad platform for the scaled rollout of advanced driver assistance and autonomous technologies.

GAC's extensive vehicle lineup and large sales volumes are expected to generate substantial real-world driving scenarios and data, supporting the ongoing optimization and iteration of Seyond's E1X LiDAR platform and reinforcing the company's competitive edge in the LiDAR market.

GAC's decision to deploy Seyond's LiDAR solutions across multiple brands and models reflects confidence in the supplier's technology maturity, mass-production readiness, and ability to adapt to varied application scenarios.

The collaboration also illustrates a broader industry trend toward closer coordination between automakers and core technology suppliers as intelligent driving systems move from pilot programs to large-scale deployment.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
