Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CATL and Transfar Group have recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde, Fujian province, formalizing a partnership aimed at accelerating green and intelligent transformation across industrial sectors, according to a press release CATL issued on December 15 via its WeChat account.

By combining their respective strengths in smart manufacturing, intelligent logistics, new energy technologies and zero-carbon solutions, the two companies plan to co-develop a more open, collaborative and sustainable industrial ecosystem for the future.

A key pillar of the agreement focuses on deepening supply-chain collaboration. CATL and Transfar will strengthen coordination across areas such as critical battery material supply and warehousing and logistics optimization, with the goal of building a more resilient, efficient and environmentally friendly supply chain that supports long-term industrial development.

The partnership also places strong emphasis on expanding a zero-carbon ecosystem across multiple application scenarios. Planned areas include logistics and transportation, electrification of commercial vehicles, industrial and commercial energy storage, integrated solar–storage–charging–swapping networks, as well as zero-carbon communities and smart agriculture. Through technology integration and scenario-driven innovation, the two companies aim to develop scalable and replicable zero-carbon demonstration projects.

Looking further ahead, CATL and Transfar plan to jointly explore emerging industries and new growth engines driven by intelligent technologies. This includes pilot applications of embodied intelligent robots in cities such as Hangzhou, as well as deeper integration between advanced equipment manufacturing and new energy technologies, laying the groundwork for growth opportunities in the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period.

The agreement marks a shift in the relationship between the two companies—from project-based cooperation to ecosystem-level co-creation. With Hangzhou positioned as a strategic starting point, CATL and Transfar will first roll out localized applications and jointly developed business models, before extending successful practices across Zhejiang province and eventually nationwide. Through this approach, both sides aim to accelerate integration and upgrading across the entire new energy value chain.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
