【SMM Steel】HBIS and Chery have jointly launched a 2400 MPa ultra-high-strength and high-toughness hot-forming steel, marking a new milestone in advanced automotive steel development. The material achieves a breakthrough combination of 2400 MPa tensile strength and over 5.5% elongation, overcoming traditional limitations of low toughness in extremely high-strength steels. Current mainstream hot-forming steels typically range from 1500 to 2000 MPa, with global leading levels around 2000-2200 MPa. This new 2400 MPa grade sets an industry benchmark for upper strength limits. Designed for critical automotive structural components including A/B pillars and EV battery protection frames, the steel enhances vehicle safety while reducing component weight, providing an advanced solution to the industry's challenge of balancing lightweight design with high safety performance.
