According to the BNAmericas website, Canadian enterprise Mirasol Resources has commenced exploration for the 2025/26 fiscal year at the Sobek copper-gold-silver project in northern Chile and plans to conduct a more precise geophysical survey, hoping to make a major discovery.
Sobek is located in the highly prospective Vicuña region near the Chile-Argentina border. BHP and Lundin Mining jointly acquired Filo Corp for $4.5 billion to form the Vicuña Group for developing the Filo del Sol and Josemaría projects.
The project is situated in Chile's Atacama Region, 7 kilometers from the Filo del Sol deposit and 3 kilometers from Lunahuasi, the latest discovery by NGEx Minerals. The company also holds the Los Helados project straddling the Chile-Argentina border, which has a very high grade.
Mirasol recently stated that Sobek's strategic location in Vicuña "expands our interests in this region." The company announced a new exploration plan for this 9,640-hectare mining concession and a drilling target named 46 South.
Mirasol believes a major discovery is imminent. "This season's drilling program is a critical step for the company. Drilling is expected to begin as early as next January, once the geophysical results are analyzed," said CEO Tim Heenan.
The Vancouver-based enterprise reported delineating a "stable, widespread, and continuous copper-gold-molybdenum anomaly measuring 1.0 by 0.7 kilometers. This is undoubtedly the largest and strongest geochemical anomaly identified to date within the Sobek concession."
To enhance the precision of data and drilling targets, Mirasol will employ high-precision geophysical methods. These techniques have been applied at Atex's Valeriano project south of Sobek and Aldebarán's Altar project in Argentina.
