Prior to the upcoming 2025 SMM APAC Lead-Acid Battery Industry Conference, organized by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), SMM led a delegation on a corporate visit to Thang Long Metallurgy Company Limited for exchange and insights. Thang Long Metallurgy Company Limited is one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam in the fields of hazardous waste treatment and lead product supply. Its main business is diversified, covering non-ferrous and precious metal refining, metal scrap recycling and reuse, collection of hazardous waste, industrial waste, and general waste, treatment and destruction of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, transportation of hazardous and industrial waste, as well as wholesale sales of virgin and recycled plastics.

With economic development, the market demand for hazardous waste and non-ferrous metal treatment continues to grow. Thang Long Metallurgy has been continuously expanding its capacity. It obtained the "Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the Expansion and Capacity Enhancement Project of Non-Ferrous Metal Production and Smelting Plant" approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, as well as an operating license for the treatment and destruction of 23,000 mt of hazardous waste annually.

By 2018, market surveys and demand analysis revealed a significant increase in market demand for non-ferrous metal products, particularly lead products, primarily driven by the growing demand for raw materials from battery manufacturers. Concurrently, the volume of scrap lead-acid battery recycling and processing was also continuously increasing. Based on this trend, the company decided to further expand its production capacity. On February 22, 2019, the company again obtained the "Environmental Impact Assessment Report for Supplementing and Enhancing the Capacity of Non-Ferrous Metal Production and Smelting Plant" approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, raising its annual capacity to 86,750 mt.
