Published: Nov 28, 2025 09:12
On November 26, Tianshan Aluminum announced that, in order to comply with national energy conservation and low-carbon policies, the company is utilizing reserved space on the east side of its Shihezi plant to upgrade its 1.4 million-ton electrolytic aluminum production capacity with green, low-carbon energy efficiency using advanced domestic electrolytic aluminum energy-saving technology. The project was approved at the 15th meeting of the company's sixth board of directors. Recently, the first batch of electrolytic cells for the aforementioned 1.4 million-ton electrolytic aluminum green, low-carbon energy efficiency upgrade project officially began operation. Upon completion of the project, the company's electrolytic aluminum production will increase to the approved capacity of 1.4 million tons per year, and the comprehensive AC power consumption of molten aluminum will reach an industry-leading level. The project will subsequently rely on external green electricity for energy security. Once fully completed, the company's green electricity ratio will further increase, further strengthening its competitive advantage in electricity costs and accelerating the green transformation of its core electrolytic aluminum business.

LME Aluminium Prices Slide: Long-Short Game Behind Sharp Backwardation Contraction 【SMM Analysis】
\LME aluminium prices have retreated steadily from their late-May peak, falling from nearly $3,680 per metric ton to around $3,480 per metric ton. More notably, the LME aluminium Cash-3M spread narrowed sharply over just one week, dropping from a cash premium of $104.56 per metric ton on June 1 to $15.17 per metric ton on June 9, a loss of nearly $90 per metric ton. This marks the steepest contraction in the backwardation structure since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict.
