Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Leapmotor marked a major step in its international expansion on November 25 as it entered both Brazil and Chile, debuting at the São Paulo International Motor Show and officially opening its strategy for the South American market.

Leapmotor is initially offering both the BEV (battery electric vehicle) and REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) variants of the C10, alongside the B10 sedan, in Brazil and Chile. The company plans to establish 36 retail and service locations across 27 Brazilian cities and open five outlets in Chile by 2025. Additional rollouts are planned for Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador as the brand accelerates its regional footprint.

Earlier this month, the company reported a major milestone: cumulative sales for the year have surpassed 500,000 units, allowing Leapmotor to reach its 2025 sales target ahead of schedule.

Overseas business has emerged as Leapmotor's strongest new growth engine. Supported by Stellantis' established global infrastructure, the company has built an international sales and service network covering more than 700 locations. Leapmotor vehicles are now sold in 35 countries and regions. From January to October, exports exceeded 44,000 units, leading all Chinese EV startups and gaining traction in key European markets including Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

The achievement also fulfills a pledge made in 2019, when Leapmotor founder, chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming outlined an ambition to sell half a million vehicles annually by 2025. Reaching that goal ahead of time underscores the company's disciplined long-term strategy, the strength of its operational systems and the growing recognition of its product quality and brand reliability.

Leapmotor is also preparing to launch the Lafa5—its sleek new fastback—on November 27. Positioned as a pivotal model for the brand’s next decade, the Lafa5 is priced between 105,800 yuan and 131,800 yuan in presale and is aimed at younger buyers seeking driving engagement, smart features and a distinct sense of style.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
