Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD expanded its European product line-up on November 19 with the regional debut of the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and the ATTO 2's long-range battery electric vehicle (BEV) version, the BYD ATTO 2 Comfort, launched at an event in Barcelona.

The two-variant strategy, combining both BEV and PHEV options, marks another step in the company's attempt to match Europe's increasingly segmented mobility demand.

BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said the model has resonated with European drivers thanks to its maneuverability and day-to-day practicality. He noted that the company developed the PHEV and longer-range BEV specifically in response to recent customer feedback, adding that BYD intends to continue localizing products to meet Europe's accelerating shift toward low-carbon transport.

The ATTO 2 DM-i is the first PHEV in the Yuan series. Powered by BYD's in-house DM-i super hybrid system, the vehicle combines BEV-like responsiveness with long-distance capability. It delivers up to 90 km of battery-powered range and can travel up to 1,000 km on a full charge and tank, a package designed to cover daily electric commuting while easing lingering European concerns about driving range.

Alongside the PHEV, BYD also released a longr-range BEV version of the ATTO 2, namely, the BYD ATTO 2 Comfort. The upgraded model offers 430 km of WLTP range—more than 100 km beyond the base BEV—and supports 155 kW DC fast charging, making it more suitable for long-distance travel. It maintains the series' compact handling and family-oriented design, while refinements in cabin layout and smart features aim to balance city commuting with broader household use.

BYD says its passenger vehicles are now present in 33 European countries, with plans to reach 1,000 retail outlets by the end of the year. The company reiterated that future efforts will center on technology innovation and product expansion as it pushes to advance Europe's—and the world's—transition toward greener mobility, echoing its corporate goal of helping "cool the Earth by 1°C."
