[SMM Aluminum Express News] State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has committed to supporting the massive power needs of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium's (Inalum) smelter projects. PLN will revise its 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) to accommodate this demand. PLN's Distribution Director Adi Priyanto confirmed the need for an additional 406 MW in North Sumatra to support the expansion of Inalum's pot lines 1-4 by 2031. Additionally, the new smelter project in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, requires 931 MW. The company aims to have the 1.2 GW capacity ready by late 2028 to support the smelter's commercial operation date target in 2029. PLN will coordinate closely with Inalum to ensure these power needs are fully met through the RUPTL revision.
