"Global lithium carbonate demand is projected to reach 1.55 million mt in 2025, with supply reaching 1.7 million mt. In 2026, global lithium carbonate demand is expected to grow by 30%, gradually balancing supply and demand; if growth reaches 40%, it may lead to further price increases for lithium carbonate."
On November 16, at the opening ceremony of the 10th CBIS2025, during a keynote speech titled "Breaking Barriers, Establishing New Paradigms—Reflections on the Future of the Lithium Battery Industry and Ganfeng's Practices," Li Liangbin, Chairman of Ganfeng Lithium Group, provided an in-depth analysis of lithium carbonate supply-demand and price trends, and shared Ganfeng Lithium's strategic plans and latest R&D achievements amid the diversified development scenarios of lithium batteries.
As a leading enterprise in core upstream mine resources and lithium chemicals within the lithium battery industry, Ganfeng Lithium is accelerating its extension into battery cell R&D and end-use applications, building an integrated industry chain system.
Currently, the lithium battery industry maintains high vitality. Ganfeng Lithium's strategy involves continuously advancing the iteration and application of liquid-state batteries, as well as solid-state battery R&D, to support electrification across diverse scenarios and seize the forefront of cutting-edge technology.
Li Liangbin stated, "Regarding capacity, Ganfeng Lithium has planned an annual battery production capacity of approximately 40 GWh, covering small power for two-wheelers, large power for vehicles/engineering machinery, and ESS batteries. In market expansion, Ganfeng Lithium adheres to a steady development strategy, seeking breakthroughs in niche markets."
By application scenario, Li Liangbin pointed out that China's heavy-duty truck battery swapping market is accelerating, showing trends of "market volume expansion, technological iteration, and scenario diversification," becoming a key path for heavy-duty truck electrification, with significant future opportunities for lithium batteries in this market.
Ganfeng Lithium continues to deepen its R&D and application of lithium batteries. In the two-wheeler field, Ganfeng focuses on developing pouch batteries and has established a certain brand influence in the shared battery swapping sector for two-wheelers.
It is reported that the battery cell products for two-wheelers developed by Ganfeng Lithium feature long lifespan, high C-rate, high safety, and high energy density. Among them, the energy density of LFP battery cells continues to improve, reaching up to 195 Wh/kg, with PACK energy density reaching up to 145 Wh/kg. Semi-solid-state battery cells offer sustained 3C and instantaneous 5C high-rate performance.
In the heavy-duty truck and bus battery swapping sectors, Ganfeng has already made layouts and aims to increase installations. In the industrial vehicle field, Ganfeng is actively expanding into marine power and the electrification of industrial vehicles.
Notably, Ganfeng Lithium continues to deepen its efforts in cutting-edge solid-state battery technology R&D. It is reported that Ganfeng Lithium has established two solid-state battery pilot lines: one is a 21700 cylindrical solid-state battery pilot line with approximately 0.35 GWh capacity and energy density exceeding 450 Wh/kg, suitable for electric aircraft, intelligent robots, and other fields; the other is a pouch solid-state battery pilot line, also targeting the development of batteries with energy density above 450 Wh/kg.
In promoting the industrialisation of solid-state batteries, Ganfeng Lithium focuses on advancing their application in drones, robots, and the new energy sector.
Regarding solid-state battery materials, Ganfeng currently has an annual production capacity of 3,150 mt of lithium metal anode. Additionally, its thousand-ton-level electrolyte production line and high ionic conductivity production line are of industrial scale. In the future, the company will continue to drive progress in the solid-state battery field, promoting the rapid development of high-specific-energy batteries.
