Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Geely Holding Group announced on November 19 that it has formally kicked off its latest strategic partnership with Renault in Brazil, following unveiling creation of their new joint venture, Renault Geely do Brasil. A launch ceremony held at the Ayrton Senna industrial complex signaled that the two automakers are now moving from planning to execution in accelerating their new energy vehicle strategy across South America.

The newly formed venture plans to invest 3.8 billion Brazilian reais (about 5.1 billion yuan) to bring new energy vehicle platforms and models into local production. The program is expected to significantly raise utilization at the industrial park and provide Geely with a stronger foothold as it expands its NEV presence across Latin America.

Under the agreed investment roadmap, the joint venture will localize production of two new models built on Geely's GEA NEV-dedicated architecture, with market launch scheduled for the second half of 2026. Looking further ahead, the partners plan to create an all-new NEV technology platform, from which Renault will introduce a new model slated to enter production in 2027.

The collaboration aims to leverage each company's strengths: Renault contributes its long-standing manufacturing base and extensive sales network in Brazil, while Geely brings its advanced NEV technologies and product portfolio. The two companies already have momentum in the market, with Geely's EX5 and EX2 (Xingyuan) models introduced through Renault's dealership channels and gaining early traction among Brazilian consumers.

Next, the partners plan to build a more complete local ecosystem, enhancing capabilities in localized production, supply-chain operations, sales and aftersales service to support long-term market development.

The Brazil investment marks another major step in the deepening alliance between Geely and Renault, following their collaboration on vehicle manufacturing in South Korea and the establishment of the global powertrain company HORSE Powertrain. The latest initiative is expected to help both companies secure sustainable growth in Brazil and the broader Latin American region as competition intensifies in the NEV era.
