GAC Group will use Alibaba Cloud's infrastructure and large language models in Qwen series, to develop an AI-driven operating system that spans the full value chain.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group and Alibaba Cloud have agreed to broaden their partnership into full-stack automotive AI (Artificial Intelligence), signing a strategic cooperation pact on November 14. The two companies aim to combine GAC Group's manufacturing expertise with Alibaba Cloud's capabilities in cloud computing and AI to build next-generation digital infrastructure for the auto sector and accelerate real-world deployment of AI across vehicle development, production, and user scenarios.

Under the framework, GAC Group will use Alibaba Cloud's infrastructure and large language models in Qwen series, to develop an AI-driven operating system that spans the full value chain — from R&D and manufacturing to sales, corporate management, and customer services.

The agreement will also see GAC Group adopt Alibaba Cloud's high-performance computing and elastic architecture to support a broad swath of core businesses. That includes migrating key internal systems to the cloud, scaling development of advanced driver-assistance features and smart-cockpit capabilities, enabling more connected-vehicle services, and supporting GAC Group's global operations.

GAC Group plans to integrate the large language models in Qwen series more deeply into its business processes, exploring applications such as multimodal smart-cockpit interaction, AI-assisted sales and service tools, and enhanced business-intelligence systems. The goal is to lift efficiency across R&D and operations while raising the level of in-car intelligence available to customers.

Chairman of GAC Group Feng Xingya noted that the companies will deepen collaboration in areas such as global cloud deployment, large model development, cloud-based ADAS engineering, mass-production readiness, and next-generation AI cockpits — aiming to jointly advance an AI-defined era of mobility.

The two companies first began working together in 2021. In May, GAC Group disclosed that it had expanded its strategic ties with both Alibaba Cloud and Huawei to push a "data + AI" transformation across its operations and to support the acceleration of its overseas ambitions.

GAC Group now plans to rely more heavily on Alibaba Cloud as it expands abroad, covering areas such as digital infrastructure in overseas markets, deployment of international connected-vehicle systems, global supply-chain management platforms, and payment frameworks. With the new agreement, the scope of cooperation has grown to encompass full-stack AI development for both domestic and international operations.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
