Beijing (Gasgoo)- At the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), held from Nov. 10 to 21 in Belém, Brazil, GWM HYDROGEN-FTXT ("FTXT"), the hydrogen energy subsidiary of Great Wall Motor, unveiled the Explorer H1, Brazil's first hydrogen-powered research vessel, co-developed with Dalian ECO Marine Co., Ltd., JAQ, NAUTICA, and ITAIPU PARQUETEC.
The ship is now docked at Belém's waterfront for public tours, offering visitors an immersive zero-emission experience.
During COP30, all onboard systems—from lighting and air conditioning to kitchen and entertainment facilities—were powered entirely by hydrogen, achieving zero carbon emissions and showcasing the viability of hydrogen-powered maritime solutions.. The vessel will next enter fuel testing to validate its full hydrogen-powered operating mode.
The Explorer H1 was specifically designed by FTXT for South American maritime applications, featuring a marine mobile hydrogen power cabin that integrates FTXT's hydrogen fuel cell system, hydrogen storage system, and intelligent control algorithms. The system efficiently converts hydrogen into electricity, providing stable power for all daily operations while ensuring full-cycle safety and modular flexibility.
In the future, the hydrogen-powered research vessel will accompany scientific teams deep into the Amazon rainforest, using zero-emission clean energy to support climate research missions. On every voyage—monitoring rainforest ecosystems and recording climate data—it will contribute the "green power of Chinese innovation" to global climate research.
